Child trafficking awareness at Tamei

Awareness programme on 'child trafficking' was held recently at Tamei headquarters (Tamenglong district) where resource persons gave indept knowledge on the issue.
Pastors, public leaders and village authorities from about 30 villages participated in the two-day event organised by Global Peace Mission in collaboration with Transformation Mission Liangmai.
Dr Chambo, Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Tamenglong, journalist Witoubou, ZEO (retired) N.Ariliu, Principal of CMES Abuibou Daimai, Marialiu Abonbai (UBC) spoke on the occasion.
Dr Chambo suggested that a kind of monitoring cell or helpline be set up in all the blocks in Tamenglong district so that whenever the issue of child traficking crops up things can be tackled through these cells.
Dr Chambo highlighted the plights of trafficked children and said the business of child trafficking is growing and the traders are making big money out of it.
Witoubou stressed that even if the people are aware of the child trafficking issue or for that matter, even if the people are armed with enough knowledge on the issue, when poverty strikes, awareness programmes on the issue will not make any difference.
He harped on the importance of self-reliance economically so as to thwart all these challenges.
Ariliu Newmai presented a lengthy speech on the topic, "What is child trafficking" and also on the prevailing situation.
Abuiboi Daimai spoke on the topic, "Children's transformation agents and the hope." Marialiu Abonmai said about the 'security and value of children.
Programme co-ordinator Rev Ch Widabou, pastor of UBC moderated the two-day event.
