Dimapur, May 09 2013:
In contrast to the recent statement issued by a top functionary of the NSCN (K) opposing the inclusion of Rongmei and Mao tribes as Scheduled Tribes of Nagaland, NSCN (K) kilonser MIP, NGOs and public relations Wangtin Naga Wednesday maintained that group has "nothing to do with the issue" .
He said NSCN (K) neither supported nor opposed the recognition of the two tribes as STs of Nagaland.
In an exclusive interview to Nagaland Post, Wangtin pointed out that NSCN (K) had only one political objective-- "Naga sovereignty" .
He however said "recognition of the two tribes should be deliberated and discussed between the state government and Nagas" .
Stating that NSCN (K) was always for "integration" of the Nagas, Wangtin said the group had "no say" on issue pertaining to the recognition of the two tribes as STs.
Admitting that "certain opinions" might have been expressed by some "leaders/ individuals", he said NSCN (K)'s termed such opinions as "individual opinion" and not as the group's decision.
Slamming Rio-led DAN government's move as "unconstitutional", senior NSCN (K) kilonser for law and justice Kughalau Mulatonu claimed that neither the Mao nor Rongmei communities demanded recognition but it was decided "only in Rio's chamber" .
