UCM presents solar street lamps

The United Committee Manipur (UCM) today presented solar street lamps to two villages of Senapati district; Thangal Surung and Kharam Pallel.
After handing over the solar street lamps to Thangal Surung village, UCM president Y Nabachandra stated that they are aware only words are not enough to sustain and hill-valley cordiality.
Since the day UCM came into being, it has been extending assistance in its own capacity to people living in different parts of Manipur including remote villages in the hill districts.
Saying that the street solar lamps can mitigate the problems caused by unavailability of regular electricity to some extent, Nabachandra appealed to the local villagers to install the solar street lamps at places where they would be beneficial to the maximum number of people.
Thangal Surung village secretary Silas while acknowledging UCM's assistance, said that the activities of UCM would certainly help in bringing a peaceful atmosphere where different communities cooperate with each other.
At another similar function, UCM vice-president Chandramani Khumancha and general secretary Joychandra Konthoujam presented a solar street lamp to Kharam Pallel village chairman R Umsothung.
