5 including MPP Vice President remanded to police custody

Imphal, October 31 2011:
Five persons including Vice President of MPP, who were arrested by Imphal West District Police Commandos from near the bus parking of Khagempalli Panthak at around 6.30 am yesterday, have been remanded to police custody for nine days after being produced before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate of Imphal West district today.
The five persons who were produced in the court are Yumnam Biju Singh (33) s/o late Y Tombi Singh of Khagempalli Panthak; Haobijam Ranjit alias Lukhoi (35) s/o H Shyamkeshwor Singh of Luwangshangbam Mayai Leikai; RK Joysana alias Joy (44) s/o late RK Chinglensana Singh, also from Luwangshangbam Mayai Leikai, Yengkokpam Thain alias Lokeshwor (42) s/o late Y Singhajit of Kontha Khabam Leikai and Yanglem Mangi Singh (60) s/o late Y Lukhoi of Luwangshangbam Mayai Leikai.
Yanglem Mangi is also the Vice President of MPP.
They were arrested while coming together in a white colour Bolera bearing registration no.MN04A/6552. The FIR (no.602(10), 2011, IPS ) registered against them is under section 17/18/20 UA (P) A Act and 25 (1-B) A Act.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by Senior SP of Imphal West District today has claimed that all the five arrested persons are active members of the outlawed PREPAK.
On spot verification, Biju disclosed that he is working under the command of one Nongsaba of PREPAK for the last two months, Two 9 mm pistols with magazines having six live rounds and one Rage mobile hand sets were seized from his possession, the SSP informed.
The police officer further conveyed that Biju also disclosed that he collected two arms from Haobijam Ranjit.
The white colour Bolero bearing registration no, MN04A/6552 was used for transportation of PREPAK members, arms and ammunition and one mobile handset and Rs 1000 were seized from the possession of Y Mangi apart from mobile handsets and Rs 3500 from the possession of Ranjit, Joysana and Thain.
