Dimapur, October 31 2011:
NSCN-IM has said today that the silence maintained by the Assam Rifles authority over the physical assault case of J Kumo Sha, president of All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM) on October 24, will be construed that the 'higher authorities' of the security forces are encouraging to provoke the Nagas.
"This deceptive silence will naturally be construed as higher authorities indirectly (or directly) encouraging such display of high handedness to provoke the Nagas," the NSCN-IM said today.
President of All Naga Students Association, Manipur (ANSAM) J Kumo Sha was reportedly assaulted by personnel of Assam Rifles on October 24 in Senapati.
Reports alleged that one Assam Rifles major identified as Major Marathi led the Assam Rifles team that carried out the incident.
The following day, the ANSAM, Senapati District Students Association (SDSA) and Senapati District Women Association (SDWA) had submitted a joint memorandum to the GOC, 57th Mountain Division stationed at Leimakhong, Manipur in this connection demanding for the initiation of action against the accused.
However, till date no new development in this regard has cropped up.
Irked by the silence maintained by the Assam Rifles authority over the incident, the NSCN-IM said today, "Nothing is more criminal in the eye of the law when the keepers of law and order violates the law deliberately.
And everything looks disgusting when disciplinary code of conduct is not maintained by the forces that has gained much notoriety than anything else." The Naga outfit then stated that this is the sorry state of affairs when one talks of Assam Rifles.
It said the October 24 incident in Senapatiwhen the ANSAM president was harassed, insulted and humiliatedhas come as big blow to the whole Nagas.
