Midnight pact for Sadar Hills

The indefinite economic blockade called by the SHDDC has been called off following a marathon meeting at the residence of the Chief Minister at the stroke of midnight.
The indefinite bandh imposed on Sadar Hills district has also been simultaneously called off.
The Government agreed to upgrade Sadar Hills to the status of a full fledged district after the District Re-organisation Committee submits its report.
The agreement proposed the bifurcation of Kangpokpi into Champhai and T Vaichong sub-divisions, Saikul to Saikul and Island sub-divisions and Saitu-Gamphazol to Saitu-Gamphazol and Kangchup Geljang.
The three newly proposed subdivisions will be inaugurated within November this year, office of SDO, Champhai to be located at Kangpokpi temporarily and the State Government to withdraw all legal cases pending against SHDDC leaders.
