MPP VP, four others held

Five individuals including the vice-president of the Manipur People's Party (MPP) have been apprehended by Imphal West commandos for their alleged links with the proscribed PREPAK.
A press release issued by the Imphal West SSP informed that the five individuals were pulled up from Khagempalli Panthak bus parking at about 6.30 pm yesterday.
However, the SSP did not mention that the MPP vice-president was among the five apprehended.
The apprehended individuals have been identified as Yumnam Biju (33) of Khagempalli Panthak, Haobijam Ranjit alias Lukhoi (36) of Luwangshangbam Mayai Leikai, RK Joysana alias Joy (44) of Luwangshangbam Makha Leikai, Yengkokpam Thain alias Lokeshore (45) of Kontha Khabam and Yanglem Mangi (60) of Luwangshangbam Mayai Leikai.
Two 9 mm pistols, two magazines, six live rounds, one Bolero jeep (MN-04A/6552), five mobile phone handsets and Rs 4,500 in cash were recovered from their possession.
The two pistols were recovered from Yumnam Biju.
Biju was working for PREPAK under one Nongshaba for the last two months.
Biju took the pistols from Haobijam Ranjit.
The Bolero jeep was used for movement and transportation of PREPAK cadres and weapons, mentioned the press release issued by the Imphal West SSP.
Another source maintained that the Bolero jeep belongs to MPP vice-president Yanglem Mangi.
