CCpur shuts down to protest murder of trader

Two days after a non-Manipur trader was killed by his abductors, students and the non-Manipuri community based here rallied today to lodge their protest while shops and business establishments downed shutters for the day.
The protest rally that began at Lamka public ground under the aegis of CDSU concluded at the DC office with the submission of a memorandum that calls on the government to nab and booked the criminals, and compensates the bereaved family.
Appu Jain, 30 was kidnapped for ransom by unidentified miscreants on the night of Diwali near his residence.
Though his family members reportedly paid Rs.15 lakhs in ransom on Friday last, he was found murdered at Hengken village under Sangaikot TD block the following day.
Last rite for Appu was performed here yesterday amid widespread condemnation of the crime from local bodies.
Addressing the rally today, ADC Chairman Langkhapau Guite calls on every citizen to remain alert and thwart any attempt to repeat such heinous crime in future.
'Let the money collected by the criminals only begets them of misery and misfortune,' he said.
The CDSU President Lalkhohao Chongloi while calling on the government to book the culprit at the earliest declared that it will not hesitate to launch further agitation if the government fails to fulfill the demands they have put forward.
