Imphal, October 31 2011:
All Tribes Association (ATA), Tamenglong district, Manipur has strongly objected to transfer of fund sanctioned under Centrally Sponsored Scheme (MSDP) from DRDA to MOBED.
In a statement jointly signed by its President Landinthui Ngaomei and Secretary Achanpbou, ATA pointed out that the fund sanctioned under MSDP in respect of Tamenglong district has always been deposited in the account of DRDA, Tamenglong and a part of this fund used regularly for implementation of Housing Scheme, construction of school buildings, Anganwadi sheds and water supply scheme.
However, after a meeting on October 5 (resolution no.3), Minister of MOBC Allaudin Khan has issued directives that construction of all the hostel and school buildings under the MSDP funding would be implemented henceforth by MOBED and DPRS and the fund for the same should be submitted to the account of MOBED.
Such decision of MOBC Minister is against the will of the people as MOBED is incompetent and would not be able to execute the construction works properly in the hill districts, the joint statement observed, and questioning how can the fund deposited in one engineering cell can be withdrawn and deposited in another engineering cell without any valid reasons.
What would be the fate of the works which have been accorded sanction and issued work orders and cheques by the District Rural Development Agencies concerned, the joint statement further asked, while drawing the attention of the government for taking up necessary measures to redress the grievances of the people.
