4 women injured in attack by bandh supporters

Imphal, March 23 2015:
Four women were injured after bandh supporters attacked them near Yairipok Azad High School in Thoubal district around 7 p.m.on Sunday.
The bandh was called by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the killing of Md Lukman from 6 am.
The four were travelling on a Winger van when a group of bandh supporters pelted stones on the van and even tried to set the vehicle on fire.
The four were returning home from Kyamgei Maning Leikai after dropping a woman.
Fifteen women and two men were travelling on the vehicle when the incident took place.
The rear portion of the van was partly damaged in the incident.
The injured were identified as Th Memi (60), Th Maniton (63), W Thoinu (43) and W Roji (21).They have been admitted to Yairipok Hospital.
Meanwhile, another group of bandh supporters damaged one Maruti van and one Honda Activa scoter near Thoubal Moijing Eroipat.
Another Honda Activa scooter was also thrown into a pond by a different group of bandh supporters at Lilong in Thoubal district.
Meanwhile, Winger Drivers' Association (WDA) on Monday enforced a shutdown of Yairipok Keithel of Thoubal district to register protest against the attack on a packed Winger van by a group of strike supporters last night near Azad High School.
The association also condemned the incident.
