Veteran Cricket: Champ overcome MC-B in a close encounter

Tejbanta's strike with the bat guided Champ to victory over Model Club B by 22 runs in group match of Aribam Amutombi Sharma Memorial Veteran Cricket Championship at Langthabal Public Ground on Monday.
In a match of equal grit, Champ set a target of 213 from 35 overs by losing 5 wickets.
The score was set on the effort of Tejabanta who score 80 off 85 balls.
Tejbanta's batting that combines caution with aggression was supported by Suresh (34) and Tomthang 28 from 28 balls in setting the competitive score.
Champs 5 wickets were claimed by Bobycha (3); Gulson (1) and Rishikanta (1) of Model B .
Model's run chase was led by Sanjit, 41 off 58 balls.
On the platform set by Sanjit, Rishikanta raced to 26 from 15 balls while Gulson added 21.Gourachandra also scored 17 off 25 balls.
The run chase was started in right earnest but wickets keep on falling regularly and Model could not build partnerships.
The run chase was halted with sustained pressure created by Champ bowlers with Tomthang; Gopal and Ratan accounting 3 wickets each and Suresh 1 wicket.
The collective effort of Champs bowlers terminated the chase in 31 overs by sending all the Model batsmen to the pavilion.
