"The time will come when the people of Northeast India would have to find an alternative to merge the region with others for safety if the Indian Union is not able protect the people of the region and provide security," said Mizo Students Union (MSU) president Zodinpuia.
He was speaking during the protest demonstration against the series of racial attacks on the North East people including the raping of a teenage Mizo girl by a man at Munirka in Delhi on last Friday.
The Mizo Students' Union (MSU) today staged the demonstration in front of the Raj Bhavan here during which a memorandum was submitted to Governor Vakkom Purushothaman.
MSU president Zodinpuia who spoke at the protest rally said racial discrimination and harassment against North Easterners in any form which is rampant in mainland India especially in Delhi is ridiculously barbaric and therefore abominable.
"None can predict that discrimination and harassment on racial or regional line against the North Easterners unless shunned, might not invite violent in the country," the MSU president asserted, adding that the time will come when the people of Northeast India would have to find an alternative to merge the region with others for safety if the Indian Union is not able to rule over the region and provide security to the people, MSU president warned.
Biakson Tonsing, the general secretary of Siamsin Pawlpi (SSPP) too condemned the Delhi incidents.
He said the racial discrimination and various atrocities that have been perpetually committed to Northeasterners in mainland India should be condemned by all.
A memorandum in this connection was submitted to India President of India, the Prime Minister, the Delhi Chief Minister and the Delhi Police Commissioner through state Governor.
