Missing driver rescued near river bank

Ukhrul, April 04 2019:
A missing driver from Manireda Dept, was found and rescued from near Choithar river bank of Ukhrul village.
The driver was identified as Manghem Vaiphai, resident of Mohkongpung, Kangpokpi, who came to Ukhrul on March 28 for election duty.
His family lodged a complaint of a missing person at the Ukhrul police station on next day, after he reportedly went missing.
Following the report, the Ukhrul police department in collaboration with the local civil society organisations carried out extensive search, and rescued him from the Choithar river bank yesterday about 10 kms away from town laying in a pitiful frail condition.
Today, the police department handed over the driver to the family after giving him proper medical treatment at district hospital, Ukhrul.
The family members have expressed gratitude to the District Administration, Police, Manireda, election officers, local CSOs, medical staff and the villagers of Choithar for their swift action and help in tracing him safe and sound.
