Imphal, April 04 2019:
Apart from boycotting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled visit to the State on April 7, the CorCom has announced total shutdown throughout Manipur (Kangleipak) on the day.
A statement issued by CorCom publicity committee alleged that all the people of Manipur have been reeling under an alien rule since Manipur was forcibly merged into the Indian Union on October 15, 1949 .
In addition to taking over the political rein, India has taken control of the State's economy with a sinister motive to suppress the people of Manipur, it alleged.
The Government of India has been actively pursuing a policy of completely annihilating the people of Manipur who have no similarity with the dominant Indians in terms of race, culture, physical features and identity, it alleged.
By imposing draconian laws like AFSPA 1958 in their efforts to suppress the liberation movement, the Government of India has literally put Manipur under military rule.
In the name of suppressing the liberation movement, Indian military forces have been committing all kinds of atrocities upon the civilians of Manipur, alleged CorCom.
Indian military forces have also committed a number of massacres like the Patsoi-Langjing Massacre, RMC Massacre, Tonsen Lamkhai Massacre, Heirangoithong Massacre etc.
At the same time, Indian military forces have been continuously violating even basic human rights in the State, it alleged.
Out of 1528 fake encounter cases listed before the Supreme Court, CBI has submitted charge sheets in five cases after due investigation and the people are awaiting the Court's judgement, it said.
With the Indian military unable to suppress the liberation movement, the Government of India has been using other policies like population transplantation and racial assimilation.
After giving up its earlier slogan 'Unity in Diversity', some Indian political parties are now actively pursuing the agenda of Hindutva which seeks to transform India as a Hindu Nation.
This agenda of Hindutva is aimed at exterminating all the minority communities, the CorCom asserted.
The repeated attempts of New Delhi to get the Citizenship Amendment Bill passed is driven by a diabolic agenda to settle a large number of Hindu refugees from Bangladesh and mainland India so as to make Manipur a permanent part of India, it alleged.
The CorCom then said that the people ought not to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is coming to the State for election campaign.
The Prime Minister is coming to Manipur to hoodwink the masses with the promises of development while the Government of India's policies threaten the very survival and identity of the region's indigenous people, it continued.
The CorCom announced that there would be total shutdown throughout the State from 1 am of April 7 till 6 pm .
It also appealed to all the people to unfurl black flags and protest the Prime Minister's visit.
However, medical services, religious functions, media, water supply, electricity and fire services would not be covered by the total shutdown, it added.
