Imphal, April 21 2013:
Expressing concern over increasing crimes against innocent people in the state, Saikul Area Naga People's Organisation (SANPO) has posed questions to armed groups operating in Manipur and the state government.
In a statement signed by its Public Secretary As Leishipem, SANPO questioned why the armed personnel are killed innocent people and what do they get from such killings.
It seems there is no person or authority to protect the lives of innocent people and their properties in Manipur today.
"It's shameful and needless to mention that crime against innocent people is increasing rapidly and the law and order situation of Manipur is worsening day by day.
If there is/are problems between the two parties, there may be solution if we have the understanding and can be solved through mutual co-operation and understanding.
Even if the person has done wrong to you, we/you don't have the right to kill the person, because God does not give the right to kill people," Leishipem observed.
While appealing for safe release Alice Kamei (14), who has been purportedly abducted by banned RPF/PLA, SANPO also condemned the killing of truck driver S Babu by suspected cadres of NSCN-IM .
