Chandel, April 21 2013:
Demanding shifting of surrendered KYKL (MDF) cadres from 20 AR camp at Chandel HQs, Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) Secretary General BD Betha today said that keeping of the surrendered UG cadres in Chandel district is an irresponsible act of Chief Minister O Ibobi and Home Minister Gaikhangam.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the road block enforced at Komlathabi area as part of ongoing Chandel district bandh, BD Betha said that keeping surrendered cadres of KYKL (MDF) in any part of Chandel district is against the will of the people.
He recalled that CNPO had also opposed keeping of surrendered cadres of KCP (Lallumba) group in Chandel district and they were subsequently withdrew by the government.

But once again, the state government is keeping surrendered cadres of KYKL (MDF) in Chandel district instead of keeping them in other districts.
The government should devise such policies for keeping the surrendered cadres of valley-based UG groups under SoO in valley area only and surrendered cadres of hill-based UG groups in the hill districts, he proposed.
He also alleged that the surrendered KYKL (MDF) cadres are now enjoying free movement in Chandel district and they started extorting money from government departments.
With such incidents increasing, people of Chandel are worried over the peace and tranquility in the district.
He further said that they have submitted written request to Chief Minister, Home Minister, MLAs of Chandel and Tengnoupal A/Cs, DC Chandel, SP Chandel, DG of 26 Sector AR and CO of 20 AR for removal of surrendered cadres of KYKL (MDF) from Chandel district but no positive response had been given, thus forcing CNPO to launch the total bandh.
If the UG cadres were not removed at the earliest, Home Minister Gaikhangam should resign, the Secretary General of CNPO demanded.
