The age of Meetei Mayek has come, says Dr M Nara

After Meetei Mayek was replaced by Bengali script for quite a long time, today Meetei Mayek has come up once again with people started realizing the importance of their own native script, former Minister Dr M Nara has exclaimed.
He was speaking on the occasion of releasing the 6th edition of Pandam, the first monthly magazine in Meetei Mayek at the office of the Manipur State Shumang Leela Council here today.
Dr Nara further stated that after a few years from now, Bengali script will be totally replaced by Meetei Mayek.
This is a big and important step in the history of Meetei Mayek and the process should be allowed to carry on carefully.
The publication of Pandam at this juncture is also very appropriate, he added.
He also expressed his desire to promote Meetei Mayek in other States of North East including Tripura where a sizeable number of Manipuris are settling.
Kshetrimayum Madhabi, Secretary of Lamyanba; Mutuwa Bahadur, Director Mutuwa Museum; P Gunachandra, President of Manipur State Shumang Leela Council and Ph Landhoni, Advisor of Pandam were presidium members of the function.
