Bpr SP clarifies on missing girls rumours

Imphal, November 17 2021:
Two girls, one 13-year-old and another 11-year-old, who were reported missing on November 15 were found at Naranseina Mamang Leikai on Wednesday.
Speaking to media persons at his office, SP Bishnupur Hopson Sapam informed that the reports which went viral on social media and local papers about kidnapping of two girls by two teenaged boys who came in Activa are false.
It is found that the 13-year old girl eloped with a 17 years' old boy and the 11-year old girl too went with them fearing of what her family member might say and do to her if she returned home.
Amidst the intensive search by poliae, Ereima Lamaba Sporting Association (ELSA) volunteers relayed information about the two girls and the police found them at Naransena.
They were produced before the Child Welfare Committee Bishnupur around 3pm and later handed over to their respective families.
However, the teenaged boy who eloped the girl was handed over to Juvenile Justice Board.
People should not to spread unauthentic information that could create confusion, the SP said, while urging the people to continue supporting the activities of police.
Meanwhile, All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) secretary publicity Laishram Krishnachandra recalled that the girls' families requested the organisation for searching their missing wards.
AMUCO advised its branches and apex bodies to search for the girls.
Fortunately, AMUCO and ELSA volunteers found them and were taken away by Moirang police.
While urging people to look after their children carefully, he exhorted to let the children to set for an aim in life and check the changing behaviour among them so as to prevent from involvement in unwanted incidents.
Krishnachandra further appealed to the parents and guardians for giving counselling to their children.
AMUCO will always extend all possible help in it, he added.
