KIM unhappy over hydro-power at Gelnel

As part of their tour programme, members of Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) along with Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills yesterday visited Twilang area, commonly known as I.T.Road in Sadar Hills West to inspect the developmental works taken up by the Government.
A public meeting was also jointly hosted by Kuki Inpi Twilang Block and Kuki Chief Association Twilang Block at Gelnel village Community Hall as part of the inspection tour during which KIM President Thangkhosei Haokip spoke on the topic of "Chief and Village administration" while KIM Gen.Secy.
Khaimang Chongloi announced KIM Work Programming and Finance Policy.

Attended by more than 350 leaders including village chiefs and CSO leaders of the block, the meeting resolved to promote the Custom, Culture and Dresses of the Kukis and abide by the resolution taken by Kuki Inpi Assembly in this regard.
The meeting further resolved to live and settled solidly in their respective dwelling places and contribute to the Kuki Inpi General Fund accordingly.
After the meeting, the visiting team accompanied by the local Inpi's and CSOs inspected the Hydro Power Generation project being set up by the Govt.at Gelnel Village.
The team found that the power plant for which the construction work was started several years back, is yet to be completed.
Speaking to media on the sidelines of the inspection, Secretary of KIM Khaimang Chongloi decried the negligent attitude of the Govt and said that it was very unfortunate to find that the construction of Hydro Power Generation at Gelnel has remained incomplete even after so many years and urged the responsible authority to complete the construction work at the earliest.
Later on, the inspection team paid a visit to new Zoupi village, which has been established after the original village was completely destroyed by NSCN-IM during their ethnic cleansing in 1993 and paid tribute to the departed souls at the site of memorial stone erected in their memory.
