Shortage of NFSA rice irks village beneficiaries

Villagers of Tora have raised a complaint to the DSO/ District Grievances Redressal Officers, Ukhrul to take up necessary action against the village FPS agent for allegedly violating National Food Security Act 2013.According to the press statement issued by Tora village authority, the village has been reeling under acute shortage of rice and the locals are unable to purchase food grains from the market due to the lockdown.
The monthly entitled NFSA rice quotas for Tora village is 26.5 quintals, but the agent brought only 20 quintals for public distribution in the village.
It further mentioned that the transportation cost for NFSA rice was also borne by village authority.
In this regard, the village authority appealed to the authority concern to release the remaining rice quotas, reimburse the expenditure incurred by them for the procurement of NFSA rice from FCS godown.
Tora village is situated under LM Block of Ukhrul district.
