Imphal, October 14 2015:
Two more former Ukhrul ADC members of 2010-15 term, John Raleng of Teinem Village and Fillson Y Lunghar of Hungpung village have surrendered to Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) .
Accordingly, TNL has revoked the boycott order against the two former Ukhrul councillors and were reinstated in the Tangkhul community on Tuesday last.
As per the United Naga Council's (UNC) new directive dated May 7, 2015 calling for surrender of all former council members, TNL had on October 13 revoked the excommunication order against John Raleng and Fillson Lunghar in due consideration of TNL Shiyan Chikan (Customary Practice) Section No.114, TNL sources said.
Earlier this year in June, TNL restored a total of 13 Ukhrul ADC members of the previous council term after they surrendered themselves to the apex Tangkhul customary body.
With the latest two "surrenderees", the total number of surrendered Ukhrul ADC members has reached 15 out of the 22 who contested the previous council election 2010-15 .
It may be mentioned that UNC had earlier ordered the excommunication call against all Naga hill district council members on May 14, 2010 for going against the collective wish and aspirations of the Nagas.
The Tangkhul apex body under the directive of UNC then ordered for excommunication of all the 22 Ukhrul ADC members on August 23, 2010 by their respective villages within 30 days time for contesting MHAADC Election 2010-15 by defying the boycott call.
