Tamenglong, October 14 2015:
United Bank of India (UBI) Tamenglong branch is facing acute shortage of cash.
The bank has decided to issue up to rupees twenty thousand only for withdrawal due to shortage of cash for this week.
The UBI branch started issuing small notes (Rs.20 note) for withdrawal of cash and could not remit more than rupees fifty thousand.
Reacting sharply to the shortage of cash in the bank, Chairmen Association Tamenglong President Hukamang said the situation is a matter of shame for the bank.
Due to shortage of cash, MGNREGS wages could not be paid, said Hukamang and appealed the responsible authority to solve the problem at the earliest.
When contacted, the manager of UBI Tamenglong Branch said the remittance was supposed arrive in the month of September but the plan failed due to heavy rain.
Even the next remittance which was planned for the first week of October also failed to reach Tamenglong, said the manager.
He however assured that the cash will arrive next week and said until then the bank will issue up to rupees twenty thousand cash only.
He also appealed all account holders to bear with the inconvenience.
