Village chiefs demand release 90 days' MGNREGS funds

All Tribal Chiefs and Public Grievances Forum, Chandel (ATCPGFC) has urged the State Government to release the pending funds of MGNREGS to Job Card holders within seven days from October 13 .
The village chiefs alleged that the State Government received the funds from the Centre but the same was yet to reach the villagers.
In statement, ATCPGFC Information Secretary Moniran Moyon said the 187 village chiefs of Chandel district convened a meeting on October 12 at REACH-M office and resolved to ask the State Government to release the pending funds for 90 days.
In the meeting, the chiefs asked the State Government to release the pending wages of MGNREGS job card holders including material components within seven days.
The village chief stated that MGNREGS Deputy Secretary AK Sumbly has released the fund three times to the State Government including material component on June 18 (Rs 60,36,22000 for 30 days); on September 17 (Rs 64, 07,28000) for 30 days and on September 30 (Rs 36,82,02000 for 30 days) .
If the State Government failed to release the amount, the chiefs said that they will be forced to launch various forms of agitation.
