Imphal, October 14 2015:
The JAC against the closing of Pong Lambi by JNIMS authority has warned to close down JNIMS hospital in case the JNIMS authority and the State Government fails to reopen the road leading to the hospital (also known as Pong Lambi) by October 25 .
JAC co-convenor Advocate M Dhiren said the closure of the said road has given rise to severe transportation problems to the locals.
The Pong Lambi was first closed to public transportation in 2010 following the arrival of a team of Medical Council of India (MCI).
The then Minister of Works K Ranjit, had assured the locals that the road would be opened to the people shortly after construction of a terminal gate.
The locals are yet to see a sign of a terminal gate and the road remains closed to the public till date, M Dhiren stated.
The JAC has set the deadline of October 25 to reopen the road failing which it warned to close down medical and other services of the hospital starting the next day.
The JAC has also warned to boycott the three MLAs of the areas for their inactivity regarding the problem.
