Imphal, October 14 2015:
Based on a specific intelligence input regarding ferrying of contraband items on NH 102, troops of 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) established a vehicle check post at Khudengthabi and apprehended a woman along with contraband precious stones yesterday.
The woman has been identified as Laishram Ranjana (31) d/o Laishram Kulamani Singh of Soibam Leikai in Imphal East district.
She was heading towards Imphal in a Maruti van (MN-05A-5193), said a press release issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S) .
During frisking and checking, seven uncut stones (pink colour), two cut stones (pink colour), four polished stones (lemon colour), one polished stone (pink colour), one polished stone (brown colour), one polished stone (blue colour), one polished stone (blue colour), one polished stone (white colour), nine polished stones (orange colour), three polished stones (yellow colour), 37 polished stones (brown colour), one PAN card and a driving license were seized from her possession.
The apprehendee along with the recovered items have been handed over to Customs Department, Moreh.
