MUSU takes serious note of police crackdown
Many organizations condemn student killing

Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) has said it has taken serious note of the killing of a student Sapam Robinhood and injuring of scores of other student protesters in police crackdowns.
"We express our deep shock over the killing of Robinhood and injuring of many students during ILP protest by Manipur Police, we share the sorrow of the bereaved family," MUSU president Sarangthem David Singh said in a statement on Friday.
It demanded the Government to punish all police personnel involved in the killing at an earliest and pledged to extend support to the ILP protest launched by the people under the aegis of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS).
Jiri launches ILP agitation
Though curfew has been imposed in Jiribam, normal life in the Imphal East's subdivision was not affected on Friday.
People were seen on the roads as usual and all markets were opened.
Meanwhile, supporting the JCILPS campaign, people of Jiri burned tyres at Babupara, Lamkhai Keithel and shouted slogans "implement ILP in Manipur", "pass bill which supports indigenous people" at the gate of local MLA.
Many organizations also condemned the incident and shared the grief of the family.
Forum for Demand of Inner Line Permit System in Manipur, Thongju Part-I & II, All Manipur Meitei Christian Forum, Huiodonpokpi Tarang Apunba Development Club Ningthoulai, All Manipur Women's Social Reformation & Development Samaj, Nongchup Imphal meira Paibi Apunba Lup and Kuraomakhong United Club condemned the fatal police crackdown on student protesters.
CADA
Coalition Against Drug and Alcohol (CADA), Bishnupur District while condemning the killing of Sapam Robinhood during a peaceful protest taken out on the demand for implementation of ILP system in the State, has demanded the resignation of all MLAs.
Khwairamband Keithel Lambi Mataida Popham Phambi Lup also condemned the killing of student and injuring several others during ILP protest by police.
It demanded the Government to lift the indefinite curfew imposed in the Greater Imphal area in the interest of the public especially the daily wage earners.
