Imphal, July 10 2015 :
The Bill to protect the indigenous people of Manipur, which was passed in the last Assembly session, does not contain a single recommendation made by the All-Political Party Committee, Manipur People's Party (MPP) president N Sovakiran has said on Friday.
It is unfortunate that the Manipur Chief Minister was misleading the House by making several false and unnecessary statements regarding the controversial Manipur Regulation Visitors Tenants and Migrant Workers Bill 2015, Sovakiran said at a press meet at the party office.
He also strongly condemned the death of student Robinhood in the agitation demanding implementation of ILP in Manipur, and added that many outdated laws and British Colonial Rules are still applying in the State.
Even the way of controlling mob by security forces in the State is similar to those ways used during British times, he accused and blamed the State Home Department for its inefficiency in tackling mob.
Sovakiran expressed the party's solidarity to the family of the victim and compared Sapam Robinhood with other great martyrs of the world.
