Imphal, July 10 2015 :
Chief Minister O Ibobi has stated that fulfilling the demands raised by the Joint Administrative Council (JAC) of All Manipur Trade Unions' Council (AMTUC) and All Manipur Government Employees' Organisation (AMGEO) will throw the State into a difficult financial situation and appealed to the JAC to call off its decision to launch an indefinite cease work strike.
The Chief Minister said the State Secretariat is working as key pivot of the administration and the actual financial situation of the Government is well known by all who are working with it.
Ibobi was responding to a calling attention motion moved by MLA L Ibomcha in the House.
The monsoon Session ended on Friday.
"The State will face a difficult financial situation if the demands of the JAC are granted.
But the Government's intent is not that it does not want to fulfill them," Ibobi stated.
He said the financial crunch has to be suffered for some more time and appealed to the JAC to withdraw its stand to call the strike by understanding the difficulty.
Ibobi said the Government has to spend Rs 398 crore yearly in paying salary of the Government employees once the demands of the JAC are met.
"Even the Commissioners, MLAs and ministers may not be able to get the chance to travel by vehicles," he claimed.
Ibobi said the Centre is trying to implement the 7th Pay at a time when the State is facing difficulties in introducing the 6th Pay.
MLA Ibomcha said the JAC of AMTUC & AMGEO has already announced to kick-off an indefinite cease work strike from July 20, adding the strike will seriously paralyse the administration.
He called upon the Government to consider the JAC's demands at the earliest.
