Shutdown total in Senapati

Senapati, August 16 2026:
The total shutdown in all Naga inhabited areas, announced by the United Naga Council (UNC) was enforced strictly in Senapati district yesterday.
The emergency total shutdown lasted till 11 pm of August 15 .
The total shutdown was called following attacks on Langka and Makhui Naga villages in Kangpokpi district on August 14 which killed two civilians and injured several others.
The attacks were allegedly carried out by SoO Kuki militants.
All shops and business establishments in Senapati district remained shut and vehicular movement came to a complete halt, except emergency services.
The shutdown called by the apex Naga civil body was endorsed and enforced by different CSOs including the All Naga Students Association Manipur (ANSAM) and the Naga People's Organization (NPO).
No untoward incidents occurred during the shutdown period.
