Two die, 322 newly infected; Noney sees 32 pc TPR

Imphal, September 05 2021: The state on Sunday reported two fatalities along with 322 new positive cases of Covid-19 from 3491 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 9.22 per cent against Saturday's 9.05 per cent.

Though the positivity rate remains in single digit, Noney district recorded 32.3 per cent positivity rate and Bishnupur, Kamjong, Ukhrul districts recorded double digit positivity rate while Imphal West, Churachandpur and Thoubal districts recorded single digit, yet high positivity rate.

The death cases reported on Sunday were from Churachandpur and Thoubal districts.

With this, the cumulative number of deaths has reached 1798 .

Both the victims were unvaccinated and one of them had co-morbid conditions.

The active caseload reduced to 3260 out of which 944 (28.96 per cent) are in home isolation, 1086 (33.31 percent) in CHICs, 693 (21.26 per cent) in CCCs and 537 (16.47 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 108 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 158 are on oxygen support and 49 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on the number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support at JNIMS, Hand Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre even though these facilities have 174, 18 and 18 patients respectively.

At the same time, 15 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Sunday evening, 525 beds including 94 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Saturday evening 2774 beds were available in different CCCs, and 331 beds (20 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 85,999 positive cases and 1424 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic out of which 2071 new cases and 19 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports all the 322 new positive cases (160 male & 162 female) are from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (10), JNIMS (14) and other testing centres (298).The positive cases are from Imphal East (42), Imphal West (100), Thoubal (14), Bishnupur (25), Kakching (6), Ukhrul (17), Churachandpur (44), Chandel (3), Senapati (4), Tamenglong (5), Noney (32), Pherzawl (1), Kamjong (28) and Kangpokpi (1).In the last 24 hours, 338 patients were discharged from home isolation (123), RIMS (24), JNIMS (8), CCCs (113) and CHICs (70) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,15,399 (general population - 1,11,264 and CAPF personnel - 4,135) while number of active cases is 3,260 (general population - 3,228 and CAPF personnel - 32) .

The recovery rate is 95.62 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1462 D-type and 378 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 6338 vaccine doses were administered on Saturday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,93,720 out of which 3,66,721 are fully vaccinated.

As of Saturday, 90,879 people have received their first dose.

Meanwhile, 10 new positive cases were detected out of 70 samples tested in Kakching district on Sunday with a positivity rate of 14.29 per cent.

All are residents of Kakching district, said DSO Kakching Dr Kesho.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (39,144), Imphal East (25,566), Thoubal (9184), Churachandpur (9755), Kangpokpi (2652), Tamenglong (3174), Bishnupur (8803), Senapati (2099), Ukhrul (2385), Kakching (6236), Chandel (2179), Noney (1031), Tengnoupal (1015), Jiribam (1010), Kamjong (748), and Pherzawl(418).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (596), Imphal East (422), Thoubal (165), Churachandpur (154), Kangpokpi (56), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (183), Senapati (8), Ukhrul (29), Kakching (110), Chandel (34), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 37,189 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as pef NCP report) against the national average of 23,659 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,95,950 tests per million population against the national average of 3,79,714 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.56 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 3491 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 9.22 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.39 percent.
