Imphal, January 03 2022: Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be arriving here on Tuesday for a few hours' visit during which he will inaugurate and launch several projects in a public function to be held at Hapta Kangjeibung, Palace Compound here.

Modi would arrive at Imphal international airport at 11 am and will go to Hapta Kangjeibung to attend the public function where he will address the public after inaugurating 22 projects worth around Rs 4800 crore and lay foundation stone for several other projects.

The government has made preparations for the public function, which the ruling party is expecting to have a gathering of about 1 lakh people.

Ahead of the PM' s visit, security has been beefed up in Imphal city and surrounding areas.

Arrangements have been made to complete public gathering before the PM arrives.

After attending the programme, Modi would be heading to Tripura where he will address a public function at around 1.30 pm.

On the other hand, union home minister Amit Shah would be visiting Imphal on Thursday as part of BJP's poll campaign.

He will attend a poll rally at Luwangpokpa cricket ground, where preparation is going on in full swing.

Ahead of the PM's visit, BJP Manipur Pradesh has advised its members/supporters not to use any pamphlets or slogans except chant 'Long Live Modi' while welcoming Modi.

A circular issued by BJP Manipur Pradesh general secretary L Deben also directed its district and mandal presidents to reach the meeting venue or on the roadsides for welcoming the PM before 9.30 am.

As per the official programme, PM Modi will inaugurate as many as 13 developmental projects and lay foundation stones for nine others.

The Prime Minister is also expected to announce projects worth Rs 4815 crore of various departments during his visit to the state for which preparations are on in full swing to welcome him.

As part of the security measures being taken up in connection with the visit, Imphal West District Commando conducted search operations in areas under City police station on Monday.

According to police reports, a team led by Imphal West District Commando OC inspector P Achouba along with Commando Bazar Unit carried out search operation on Nagamapal side of Ngari Galli, Kasturi bridge and Bora Galli from 8:20 am to 8:55 am.

During the operations, verification of 190 people was carried out, out of which 15 of them who did not possess any identity documents were handed over to City police station.

After further verification, they were released later.

In connection with the visit of the Prime Minister Tuesday to attend a public function at Hapta Kangjeibung in Imphal East, there will be traffic diversion from 8 am till the function is over on Tuesday.

A public notification issued by SP Traffic Control Police informed that the traffic diversion is meant for heavy vehicles, and it has been arranged in the interest and safety of general public.

Vehicles coming from Thoubal and Ka-kching (Indo-Myanmar Road) will be diverted from Singjamei junction towards Tera via Pishum-Khagempalli-Kwakeithel; from Mayai Lambi towards Khagempalli from Pishum; from Tiddim road towards Tera Keithel from Kwakeithel; from Jiribam-Imphal Road towards Nagamapal-Thangmeiband-Assembly Road from Wahengbain Leikai Junction; from Uripok side towards RIMS-Sanakeithel-Watham Leirak-Assembly Road and further towards Khongnang Ani Karak from Uripok Canteen Crossing while those from Imphal-Dimapur Road will be diverted from Khongnang Ani Karak towards Lamlong bridge/Lilasing Khongnangkhong.

Vehicles coming from Imphal-Ukhrul Road, Tinsid Road, Pangei Road will be diverted from Lamlong Keithel towards Ayangpalli road - Singjamei and those from Singjamei, Kongba, Ngarian, Yairipok, Andro will be diverted from Kongba junction towards Ayangpalli Road/Singjamei Kongba Road.

Vehicles coming from Kshetrigao side will be diverted from Yonglan leirak crossing along Ayangpalli stretch.

For dropping points of passengers and public parking, vehicles coming from Lamlong, Khurai will drop passengers at Minuthong and park at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Pandon stretch and Dingku Road.

Vehicles coming from Sangakpam, Koirengei side will drop passengers at MMTA and park at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Pandon stretch and Dingku Road.

Vehicles coming from Tiddim Road will be diverted along Keishampat-Waheng Leikai-Nagamapal-Khoyathong, and drop passengers at MMTA, and park at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Pandon stretch and Dingku Road, the notification informed.
