Imphal, July 15 2026:
Reaffirming its commitment to promoting unity and strengthening the "Idea of Manipur", the Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) on Wednesday distributed essential relief materials to internally displaced persons staying at the relief camp in Makhan village.
According to a statement issued by FOCS, a 21-member team led by acting president BM Yaima Shah visited the camp, which is sheltering 171 displaced residents from K onsakhul and K Lungwiram villages.
The team distributed essential commodities, including rice, lentils, potatoes, edible oil and sugar, to the camp inmates.
Speaking during the visit, BM Yaima Shah said FOCS has been extending assistance to people in distress for many years and that Wednesday's visit marked the organisation's second relief mission to the Makhan camp.
He said the initiative was aimed at strengthening the Idea of Manipur by promoting solidarity and mutual support without distinction between the hills and the valley, adding that helping one another during difficult times is essential for fostering peaceful coexistence.
While acknowledging that the assistance might not meet all the needs of the displaced families.
Yaima Shah assured that FOCS would continue extending support in the future.
The displaced villagers expressed gratitude to FOCS for its timely assistance and appreciated the organisation's message of unity, compassion and peaceful coexistence.
