Kangpokpi AC first in state to launch Covid vaccination bus

Kangpokpi Assembly Constituency scripted another record when it became the first in the state to own a COVID vaccination bus which was launched by the local MLA on Wednesday.
The bus is a noble initiative of local MLA Nemcha Kipgen to improve COVID vaccination rate in her constituency.
The launching ceremony of the COVID-19 vaccination bus for Kangpokpi AC was held in front of Deputy Commissioner Kangpokpi office in the presence of SDO Kangpokpi, SDO Champhai, CMO Kangpokpi and COVID Task Force representatives.
The MLA said that the COVID-19 vaccination bus was launched to improve vaccination rate in Kangpokpi assembly constituency and the bus will be used to transport any willing individual to the vaccination site at Inspection Bungalow Hall, Kangpokpi district headquarters.
"Our Prime Minister provides free vaccine to the people and as a local MLA I provide my people free transportation for vaccination", said Nemcha Kipgen.
She said that with the detection of the new variant called Delta in the state it has become very necessary to get vaccinated to stay protected from the new variant.
The MLA in a review meeting held before the launching of the vaccination bus emphasized the importance of vaccination to all the COVID Task Force teams and exhorted them to come up with innovative ideas to convince the people and make them aware of the importance of vaccination in their respective areas.
She appealed to all the people of Kangpokpi AC to get vaccinated for a COVID-free Kangpokpi AC.
According to the district CMO, only 16,923 people have been vaccinated so far, of whom 14,532 have received the first dose and only 2,391 have got the second dose.
The CMO while highlighting the low percentage of vaccination in the district, asked the COVID Task Forces to carry out extensive awareness campaign.
Meanwhile, DC Kangpokpi Somorjit Salam informed that due to the low percentage of vaccination in the district a joint meeting was held on Wednesday with the medical department and chalked out plans and strategies to impart awareness among the masses.
He continued that an extensive awareness campaign will begin from Monday and urged the COVID Task Force to assist the district administration and medical department in imparting awareness on importance of Covid vaccination.
With 21 new positive cases detected in the last 24 hours, active cases in the district climbed to 120 .
