Imphal, June 23 2021:
Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) conducted drive against hike in prices of essential commodities at wholesale and retailer shops located at Mayang Imphal bazar on Wednesday.
According to an MSF statement, the drive was conducted after receiving reports that essential commodities are being sold at exorbitant prices amid suffering of the people due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the drive led by MSF Imphal West district committee vice president Ph Ijuj, many shops were found selling essential commodities without putting up the price list while some shops were found selling at prices fixed by owners independently.
The team advised shop owners not to repeat such acts and stop selling tobacco and drugs related items as well.
The MSF team warned that shops failing to paste price list will be fined in future, the statement said, adding that such drives will continue in other areas of Imphal West district.
The students' body also appealed to people to extend support to the drive.
