Police seize cough syrup, liquor; arrest two

Imphal, June 23 2021:
Police recovered 39 bottles of the prohibited Codeine cough syrup from a pharmacy located at Singjamei Thongju Part-II Pechu Lampak and arrested its owner on Wednesday.
The owner has been identified as Phandom Noteshor Singh (53) s/o (L) Ph Bokul.
According to report, police received a tip-off regarding one Ibudhou Pharmacy selling the cough syrup, which has been banned for sale and use without a physician's prescription.
Following the information, a team of police conducted search at the pharmacy and recovered the 39 bottles of Codeine cough syrup around 3:30 pm.
On the other hand, a team of Imphal West district commandos arrested one Koijam Joybishnu Singh (42) s/o (L) K Ibohal Singh of Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai and recovered large quantity of Indian made foreign liquor from his possession on Wednesday.
According to a report, Joybishnu was arrested from his residence around 5:30 pm.
The police also recovered Indian made foreign liquor including 16 Teacher's Highland 750 ml bottles, 12 OC Blue 750 ml bottles, two 100 Pipers 750 ml bottles, 30 Blenders Pride 750 ml bottles, 3 Black Dog 750 ml bottles and two McDowell 750 ml bottles.
