Death Anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee observed

On the occasion of Balidan Diwas which is observed as the Death Anniversary of Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, saplings were planted at Eco Tourism Park at Mayang Imphal Kokchar by Kongkham Robindro, Deputy Speaker and MLA of Mayang Imphal AC today.
Launching the mass tree plantation drive, Kongkham Robindro said that Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was a renowned leader who strived for a developed and peaceful India.
He was born in a Bengali Brahmin family on July 6, 1901 in Calcutta (Kolkata) and he died under suspicious circumstances on June 23, 1953 in Jammu and Kashmir, he added.
He stated that the mass tree plantation drive has been organised by BJP Mayang Imphal Mandal to commemorate the countless contributions of the abled leader Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee.
The Deputy Speaker continued that the plantation drive which began today will continue till July 6 which is his birth anniversary and during the programme, saplings will be planted at various' locations in Mayang Imphal AC.
He sought for the support and cooperation from the locals in the tree plantation drive in a bid to save the environment and appealed to all to take of the saplings for a healthy growth.
President of BJP Mayang Imphal Mandal, Irom Rabi, councillors of Mayang Imphal Municipal Council, representatives of Gram Panchayats of Mayang Imphal AC and members of BJP Mayang Imphal Mandal also attended the programme.
Meanwhile, Balidan Diwas was observed at BJP Khangabok Mandal, Sangaiyumpham today.
On this occasion, saplings were planted by Dr Khundrakpam Akoisana Singh, State council member of BJP Manipur.
