Covid claims another life, caseload dips to 590

The fourth wave of Covid-19 pandemic in the state claimed yet another live and infected 77 more from nine districts out of 808 samples tested in the last 24 hours, thus, registering 9.53 per cent positivity rate.
The 77 fresh cases (55 male & 22 female) are residents of Imphal West (37), Imphal East (10), Churachandpur (13), Bishnupur (4), Chandel (4), Thoubal (3), Ukhrul (3), Kakching (2) and Kangpokpi (1) districts.
The latest victim was an unvaccinated female resident of Imphal West district who also had co-morbid conditions.
With this, the cumulative death toll from Covid in the state has reached 2129 .
Thursday also reported 101 recoveries from home isolation (69), JNIMS (1), RIMS (4) and other facilities (27) as number of active cases came down to 590, out of which 406 (68.81 per cent) are in home isolation.
There are 18 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 22 in RIMS.
Till date, the pandemic has claimed 2129 lives and infected 1,38,886 individuals in the state.
The victims include 199 vaccinated people, out of which 65 had received the second dose of Covid vaccines.
So far, the state has recorded 1641 positive cases and nine deaths since the beginning of the fourth wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 1616 new positive cases and nine death cases.
The cumulative positivity rate for the current month dropped to 10.39 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 80 D-type and 20 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities and 7,985 vaccine doses administered which took the cumulative number of vaccinated population to 16,11,662, out of which 12,83,920 had received the second dose and 1,93,387 had taken precautionary doses.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (49517), Imphal East (30860), Thoubal (10240), Churachandpur (11149), Kangpokpi (3163), Tamenglong (3489), Bishnupur (9920), Senapati (2515), Ukhrul (3318), Kakching (6944), Chandel (2762), Noney (1170), Tengnoupal (1207), Jiribam (1116), Kamjong (1048) and Pherzawl (468).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (707), Imphal East (513), Thoubal (190), Churachandpur (168), Kangpokpi (68), Tamenglong (17), Bishnupur (205), Senapati (12), Ukhrul (51), Kakching (124), Chandel (42), Noney (5), Tengnoupal (15), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5), and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 44,759 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 31,221 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 5,25,378 tests per million population against the national average of 6,20,738 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.53 per cent and the recovery rose to 98.04 per cent.
The cumulative positivity rate stands at 8.52 per cent.
