Japanese minister visits GGP-aided project in Chandel

Minister (Economic and Development) Miyamato Shingo of Embassy of Japan in India on Thursday visited Anallon Christian Institute (ACI), Lambung in Chandel district headquarters which has been constructed under the funding of Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP) of Government of Japan.
A reception programme for minister Miyamota Shingo and GGP project coordinator Babita was held at the school premises by Anallon Christian Development Committee (ACDC) which was also attended by ACDC chairman L Woking, secretary Sumil Langhu, treasurer Warngam, teachers, students and parents.
A cultural show was also presented by the students during the function.
Speaking on the occasion, minister Miyamoto Shingo expressed elation that the project has been successfully implemented in the school.
Minister Miyamoto Shingo said that on seeing the place he is very much reminded of his native country and it is just like a small village in Japan.
Further stating that children in Japan are seen as very important assets for the future, he said the project has been taken up for the betterment of children of the region in view of the close historical ties between Japan and Manipur.
While mentioning that India and Japan have strong 70 years diplomatic relationship, Miyamoto called for ensuring future projects in the state are also as successful as ACI Lambung.
On the other hand, GGP project coordinator Babita expressed her happiness over the successful implementation of the project in rural tribal area.
She also expressed confidence that the Committee will continue to successfully take up such development works in future with the small funding it receives.
As part of the tour, minister Miyamoto Shingo demonstrated how to play Japanese traditional toy 'Kendama' to the students along with gifting the toys to the children.
