The Komrem Students' Union (KRSU), Manipur, has conveyed its heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Nagaland especially the Chief Minister of Nagaland for appointing Justice Songkhupchung Serto, a recent retired Judge of Guwahati High Court as chairman of Nagaland Human Right Commission for a term of 3 years.
A release issued by KRSU informed that Justice Songkhupchung Serto belongs to the Kom tribe which is a conglomerate tribe of Komrem (Kom, Chiru, Aimol, Koireng, Purum and Kharam, etc) .
He is the eldest son of (L) Singkhuplin Serto, chief of Sagang Village.
"His appointment as chairman of Nagaland Human Right Commission is beyond the dream of our community as we belonged to a minority community who could never have a representative in the Manipur Legislative Assembly for the last many years", it added.
The Union further wished Justice Songkhupchung Serto good health and a successful career.
