Teak Park Project launched at moreh

In a pioneering initiative towards establishing a Teak Park at, 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR(South) has launched a project for plantation of Teak at the border town along with conducted a Go Green Drive today.
9 AR located at Moreh has been instrumental in conceiving and executing the project.
The Teak plants were gifted by Myanmar Forest Authorities as gesture of another shining example of close Indo-Myanmar ties.
The event commenced with planting of saplings by Brigadier Rajiv Chhibber, Commander, 26 Sect AR; Zaw Zan, DC of Tamu and other dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Brigadier Rajiv Chhibber observed that the Teak Park at Moreh would go a long way in furthering the "Go Green Drive" launched by IGAR (South) towards restoring the ecological balance in the region.
Issuing a statement in this regard, PRO IGAR (S) said that the event was hailed in particular by the local populace in view of the unbounded commercial potential of Teak.
Nurturing of these parks in a planned manner, apart from addressing ecological issues, can be a major source of prosperity, given the high demand of Teak wood the world over.
The initiative was yet another step undertaken by the "Assam Rifles Fraternity" to usher in growth and development in the region, the PRO added.
In another endeavour, 2 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted a "Go Green" campaign at Phundrei village on 06 Aug 2014.The Assam Rifle encouraged the locals of Manipur through participation of 100 School going children.
In this noble endeavour Assam Rifles also took assistance of District Forest department in procurement of saplings to include fruit, shady and ornamental trees.
The campaign was part of a larger project constituted by IGAR(S) to make Manipur free from pollution.
The efforts taken by the Assam Rifles were well appreciated by the civil administration and the local population.
