While objecting the Government' s proposal of taking over NH-37 by State PWD from BRO, the Zeliangrong Students' Union (ZSU), Jiri area has threatened to launch intense agitations if the decision is not revoked.
In a press release, ZSUJA Convenor Alingbou Gangmei said that the condition of NH-37 would remain unchanged if it is handed over to State PWD.
The Department would be unable to execute works properly at far away locations of the highway, it added.
The press release further said that the work of BRO/ BRTF's work is quite satisfactory to the surrounding villages, people and area leaders.
Ahead of the inauguration of the Senapati FCI godown by Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Prof KV Thomas, the ministerial team also today inspected the FCI godown located at Mayangkhang Ningthoupham Village along the NH-2.Contending that people residing on NH-3 7 are mostly poor and unemployed, the press release said that a sizeable number of villagers are earning livelihood by engaging themselves in BRO ' s highway construction works.
The press release further said that Kaiphundai Village Authority, Oinamlong Village Authority, Luangkao Village Authority, Kaimai Naga Village Authority, Sibilong Village Authority, Zeliangrong Baudi (ZB) Jiri Zone, Zeliangrong Students' Union, Jiri Area, Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO), Old Kaiphundai (Kuki) Village Chief, Kaimai (Kuki) Village Chief, Tatbung Village Chief, Muktokhal (Leishangphai) Village Chief and Tollen Village Chief have expressed satisfaction with BRO's work progress, the press release added.
