3 killed, 3 hurt in mishaps on Ningol Chakkouba fest day

Imphal, November 06 2013:
Three persons including an infant were killed while another three persons injured in three separate road related accidents on the day of Ningol Chakkouba yesterday.
A woman and an infant were killed while another two persons sustained injury in an accident occurred at Lilong Ushoipokpi under Lilong Police Station at around 4 pm yesterday.
The deceased woman has been identified as Mayanglambam Echal alias Sanjita (36), w/o Usharanjan of Kakwa Naorem Leikai while the infant as her nine-month-old son named Abungo.
The mother-son duo were pillion riding on a Honda Activa (red colour) bearing registration number MN-01 B 8297 driven by her husband Usharajan along with their seven-year-old daughter Unita in the front.
They were returning home after attending the Ningol Chakkouba at Echal's maternal home at Thoubal Bamon Leirak.
A truck bearing registration number MN-04 A 1267 moving in the same direction suddenly hit their scooter and ran over the woman and the infant at Lilong Ushoipokpi.
They died at the spot.
However, her husband and daughter escaped with minor injuries.
Meanwhile, the truck driver identified as Elangbam Ngouba (38) of Tentha Makha Leikai has been arrested by police in connection with the accident.
In another accident, a five-year-old boy died after he was hit by a diesel auto bearing registration number MN-01Z 2369 at Pangaltabi Chairel Thongkhong at around 10 am yesterday.
The deceased boy has been identified as Sapam Sanathoi, s/o S Gojendro of Kakching Khunou Thongam Maning.
The boy was hit by the auto while he was waiting for his mother to unload the goods they had brought for Ningol Chakkouba from another passenger diesel auto at the roadside.
He died at the spot.
The faulty auto driver has been identified as Hamom Shyamkishore of Serou Mayai Leikai.
Earlier that day, his auto also hit a 10-year-old boy identified as Khumukcham Nivas, s/o Tomba of Kakching Khunou Uchan Leikai.
The boy is currently undergoing treatment at the hospital.
