Imphal, November 06 2013:
Volunteers of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) reportedly nabbed a non-local contractor who engages in pipe fitting works for duping owner of a house.
The nabbed non-local contractor has been identified as Sangram Samal (36) s/o Ram Chandra Samal of Jajpur district, Orissa but presently staying in a rented house at Khoyathong Pukhri Mapal.
Talking to media in this regard at its office located at Nongmeibung, Co-convenor of JCILPS Joy Chingngakham informed that the arrest of the non-local was made following a complaint filed by the owner of the house.
Joy further informed that Sangram Samal intentionally wrote the price of the pipe much higher in the cash receipt which issued in the name of Evershine Sanitary Home, which was again found without registration number and other necessary details.
"This is yet another example of fraudulent act perpetrated by owner of shop in cahoots with non-local contractor", Joy said, adding that JCILPS will be keeping a strict vigil on such mischievous acts.
He also appealed to the people of the state to stay alert from such dubious act of non-local contractors and finalise the wages before entrusting them with any household maintenance works.
Maintaining that the JCILPS has been organizing 'Awakening Programme' in different parts of the state to create awareness on the rampant influx of non-locals in the state, Joy informed that as part of its campaign, the committee will organize the 'Awakening Programme' at Moidangpokpi on November 7, at Nambol Thiyam Tangpol on November 12 and at Yaingangpokpi on November 14 .
In connection with the programme, a function titled ''Deprivation Day'' will also be held on November 18 to denounce the order of the then Chief Commissioner Himmat Singh in 1960 on Inner Line Permit System.
