HL Editor Hemantakumar to receive Akaba Memorial Award

In recognition of the contributions made by the noted cultural and religious activist Chingsubam Akaba, the Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Ningshing Lup and management board of evening daily 'Pandam' will be presenting the Luchingpurel Chingsubam Akaba Memorial Journalist award 2013-14 on the occasion of 70th birth anniversary of the departed leader on November 9 .
Hemanta Ningomba, editor of Hueiyen Lanpao Manipuri edition will be awarded the Editor Award for development of Manipuri language and script, and Sapam Aruna, staff reporter of Sangai Express will receive the Reporter Award for promotion of Manipur integration and communal harmony, according to a press statement issued by N.Tomba, Convenor, Organising Committee Executive member of Pandam.
The Editor Award carries a cash amount of Rs.20,000/-, a citation and a certificate, while the Reporter Award comprises Rs.15,000/- cash along with citation and certificate.
The awards will be distributed on November 9 at Hongman Tangkhul Village in Saikul constituency, Senapati district, coinciding with the first anniversary of 'Pandam' which was first published in 1980 with Chingsubam Akaba as Editor.

Rajendra, Deputy Director of Agriculture, Government of Manipur and trustee member of the Ningshing Lup.
A special edition of Pandam along with a Calendar will be published on the occasion.
