Imphal, November 05 2014:
Questioning the alleged delaying tactics practised by the Manipur University authority on the construction of separate hostels for boys and girls (Scheduled Tribe students) for academic year 2014-2015, the All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur (ATSUM) led by Muan Tombing has urged the authority concerned to take up the construction works at the earliest and fulfil its assurances.
This was stated by president, Muan Tombing during a press meet held at the union's office located at Nagaram, Imphal today.

According to Tombing, even as grants-in-aid were released to the Manipur University authorities for the construction of boys' and girls' hostels for Scheduled Tribe students, no developments have been seen so far.
A cheque amount of Rs 3,96,61,000 (bearing number 860124, dated May 27, 2009) was sanctioned by the Government to the MU authority for the construction of the said hostels but nothing concrete is seen so far even as the deadline for completion of the hostels is going to expire, the ATSUM leader stated.
The ATSUM insisted the MU authority to take up the related works at the earliest and address the problems faced by the students in the varsity.
