Ukhrul, November 05 2014:
The Raphei Katamnao Long (RKL) has conditionally resolved to oppose the implementation of PMGSY project in the northern region of Ukhrul lest the State government floats a revised tender of the of centrally funded road construction programme.
In an interaction with this reporter, RKL general secretary Soreiso Yangya said the PMGSY road project under 9th phase would not be allowed to be implemented in northern Tangkhul area unless the State government floats a revised tender for the centrally sponsored road programme.
The RKL argued that the State government awarded the work programme to the lowest bid which is far below the minimum standard rate.
The student body opined that the quality of road construction would be compromised under the manner the tendering process was taken up and awarding the work to the minimum bidder.
It urged the MSRRDA to issue fresh tender for the work programme and award the projects to the competent agencies.
The body informed that more than 10 road projects under ninth phase of PMGSY would be implemented in northern Tangkhul region.
