'Fine Rs 5000 for Pan, Khaini inside hospital'

Imphal, November 05 2014:
Chief Minister O.Ibobi today instructed the security guards posted at JNIMS to impose a fine upto Rs.5000/- from patients and patient parties who bring in 'Pan' or 'Kheini' inside the hospital.
The chief minister was on his visit to a patient of his locality at the JNIMS hospital around 8.30 am today.
On seeing the spitting of 'Pan' and 'Kheini' at the walls of the hospital, the furious chief minister hurriedly called in the security guards and instructed them to impose fines amounting to Rs.5000/- to people who bring in and chew Pan or Kheini inside the hospital.

Incidentally, the chief minister who encountered the non-functioning of the lift at the newly constructed Medicine Ward of the Institute had to climb the stairs upto the second floor.
During the visit, O.Ibobi also inspected the repairing works at the old Casualty apartment and directed for early completion of the works.
On the other hand, patients and patient parties pointed out to this Daily that non-availability of water in the Gynaecology ward and newly inaugurated 150-bedded main ward has caused inconveniences to the patients.
It is impossible to maintain cleanliness without water in the public toilets and hospital, they asserted and added that no official is there to listen to their complaints.
