Imphal, April 28 2015 :
The striking Government employees in Manipur are likely to intensify their agitations now that the Government has turned a blind eye to their ongoing stir.
Talking to reporters, Joint Administrative Council of the All Manipur Trade Unions Council (AMTUC) General Secretary and the All Manipur Government Employees Organisation (AMGEO) Secretary General L Purujit said that a general body meeting may be shortly convened to take up the issue.
At the behest of the JAC the government employees took mass casual leave for three days beginning from Monday.
As a result all government offices wore a deserted look on the second day in Tuesday.
The spokesman said that there was no response from the government side to the ongoing agitation.
The proposed general body meeting will take all these factors into consideration for adopting a resolution.
The government had signed the memorandum of understanding with the JAC on May 19, 2010.The JAC is not amused that there was no response from the Government.
The Secretary claimed that the mass casual leave is a success in other districts as well.
He said that activists of the JAC are going around to ensure that no employee attends office.
They hope that Government will respond to their demands but unfortunately there has been no positive reaction from the Government so far.
L Purujit alleged that due to lack of Governance, the State Government has been remaining silent.
If the Government continues to behave this way, it will give a negative impact on its administrative capability, he said.
The Secretary also demanded the Government to bring and amicable solution at the earliest.
When Hueiyen Lanpao visited the Secretariat, most of rooms were found locked.
Meanwhile, Chief Secretary, Government of Manipur PC Lawmkunga on Tuesday issued and order that no casual leave applications for April 28 and 29 will be granted by the controlling officers.
He said the report of attendance will be submitted to the Chief Secretary on April 30 at 2.30 pm positively for further necessary action and strict proceedings will be ensured.
