Imphal, July 13 2011:
Expressing hope of commendable performance in the forthcoming Manipur assembly elections due early next year, Central BJP leader Ramlal stated at the "One Day BJP Leaders' Meet" here in Imphal, that the Congress in Manipur will be defeated decisively.
"The Congress will be defeated decisively in the forthcoming state general elections," said the national BJP general secretary even as electioneering and politicking is slowly heating up in the state ahead of the general election due early next year.
"If we are to win in the forthcoming general election, we will have to start our spadework from the grass root level," said Ramlal, and expressed hope that the party from Manipur will be able to represent both the state and the national councils from the next term.
Mr Ramlal mocked at the state government by alleging that the credits for the developmental projects being amassed and enjoyed by the SPF government of Manipur are actually initiated by the BJP led NDA government a the Centre which were abandoned because the coalition could not complete its term.
BJP is the principal opposition party across the country wherever it is not in power, but a decisive win in the coming general election will be the beginning of a new era for the party, he said, adding that the party will start gearing up for the election from today.
BJP state president Shanti Kumar echoed similar sentiment saying the Congress will not come back to power after the general election of 2012 but other parties will together form an alternative coalition government in which BJP will play a crucial role.
BJP's door is always open to other likeminded political parties of the state who want to form a strong anti-Congress alliance, he added.
P Chandra Shekhar Rao, North East Zonal Organizing Secretary and Prof S Tikendra, Vice President BJP Manipur also spoke on the occasion.
The two visiting BJP central leaders left for Delhi after the meet.
