Ragailong blast catches up with Lanheiba

In connection with the bomb blast at Ragailong that killed 17 people and left more than 30 injured, police have rearrested Lanheiba Meitei, the leader of a KCP-MC faction, who is already in police custody.
Lanheiba Meitei has been in the police custody over the abduction of two staff of Airtel over ransom demand, for which Imphal police station have registered a case against him.
The formal rearrest of Lanheiba Meitei over the Ragailong blast was effected after he was produced before the Court of the CJM Imphal today in connection with the abduction case.
The rearrest was made under FIR no.300 (10) 2008 IPS u/s 302/307-IPC, 20 UA (P) Act & 3-Explosives Substances Act.
Subsequently, Lanheiba Meitei has been remanded to police custody for another six days with the approval of the Court.
It may be recalled that the self-styled secretary of military affairs, military council of a KCP-MC faction Lanheiba Meitei was arrested by the Guwahati City Police from Basistha in Guwahati on the night of June 28 .
Around 35 years of age, the real name of Lanheiba Meitei is said to be Khwairakpam Brojen alias Khelen and a resident of Keirenphabi Mayai Leikai under Bishnupur district .
He was brought to Imphal from Guwahati by a team of Imphal West district police on July 3 .
In the Ragailong blast that took place in the night of October 21, 2008, 17 people including surrendered UGs and civilians lost their lives while over 30 others sustained injuries.
On the following day, Lanheiba Meitei claimed the responsibility of the blast through media stating that it was to discourage people from playing Lagao during Diwali season.
